The audit landscape
NAFDAC inspects food establishments
NAFDAC's Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Directorate carries out Good Manufacturing Practice assessments of food and water establishments, and inspects premises such as warehouses, supermarkets and food service outlets as a prerequisite for licensing.
Procedures reviewed at inspection
NAFDAC's guidelines for pre-packaged food facilities, effective October 2023, list standard operating procedures that are reviewed during inspection, including production, quality control, cleaning, consumer complaints, and recall and distribution.
HACCP, calibration and pest control
The same guidelines expect a plant to design and implement a HACCP system, to calibrate laboratory and production equipment with documentation kept, and to run a pest control programme every quarter.
Root cause and remediation after a recall
Where a product is recalled, the guidelines ask for NAFDAC to be notified, for root cause analysis to be carried out and for a documented remediation plan to be developed.

A food safety template of your own
ISO 22000 is not one of the standard options in Orisynx. Food safety audits run as custom audits from a template you build, which can follow your HACCP plan, the NAFDAC guideline you are inspected against, or the clause structure of ISO 22000.
Fields can be text, numbers, dates or choices, so temperatures, batch codes and service dates are recorded as data. Each answer is recorded as in order or as an exception.

Pre-inspection reviews on a calendar
Plan internal, supplier and follow-up audits in one audit plan, each with a priority, a risk level and a department or site. A shared calendar shows audits and due dates, including overdue work.
In-app notifications go out as work is assigned, and a daily email digest lists what is overdue, what is due soon and what is waiting on each person.

From finding to verified action
Findings are linked to the audit and graded low, medium, high or critical. Each carries corrective and preventive actions that the owner accepts or disputes with a reason before work starts.
Every action passes through verify before it can close, and its effectiveness is recorded as effective, partially effective, ineffective or pending. Cleaning records, service reports and photos can be attached as evidence.
Food and beverage: questions
Does Orisynx support ISO 22000?
Not as a standard option. Audits can be started against ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 and 45001, or as a custom audit from your own template. A food safety template can follow the clause structure of ISO 22000.
Does Orisynx include a HACCP or GMP checklist?
No. There are no pre-loaded checklists. You build the template from your own HACCP plan and procedures, and every auditor then works through the same questions.
Can we record readings such as temperatures?
Yes. Template fields can be numbers and dates as well as text and choices, so readings are kept with the in order or exception answer.
